I feel like I haven’t had many cohesive posts lately — je suis desolee!! — but if I could summarize the best trends right now, it would be velvet; OTK boots; and ribbed knits. Winter 2016, in a nutshell. So, in lieu of a clear trend, another round-up of discoveries:
I absolutely love Jonathan Adler’s clever ceramic objets. I’ve been re-watching The Mindy Project lately (do yourself a favor and tune in if you haven’t — Mindy Kaling is a genius), and her apartment is totally decked out in J. Adler goodness. So I was inspired to visit the site and see what was up. I’m smitten with these bunny sculptures ($68 for the black one; $98 for the white one):
I’ve always admired the set of vintage copper canisters my mom keeps on her kitchentop at home in D.C. She stores flour, sugar, and other baking essentials in them. Anthropologie has a great set of 4 for $118 available now:
Um, I freaking love these monogrammed Tory Burch crossbodies ($650). I love that they aren’t super label-y–they could be from some bespoke leather boutique you came across while in Cambridge or something. She also has coordinating key fobs ($125) — what a fantastic gift for a bride!
I absolutely LOVE this Retro X Patagonia jacket ($199) in the neutral sherpa with red accents. I have a pullover in a similar style from Patagonia and it is the warmest, coziest thing ever. Also comes in a few other good colors, but this one is best. There’s something so…well, retro about it–it could be what your Mom wore in the 80s or something.
Another day, another velvet dress. Love this reasonably priced wrap style ($148). As you may have gathered, I’m still not settled on what to wear to Thanksgiving or Christmas this year. A lot of fab options but more continue to arrive on the scene. I swear I spend a little time every few days clicking through the options. A few other recent entrants: this Stylestalker lace dress (love the deep forest green /juniper color, $189); this affordable burgundy lace find ($115); and this deep green silk tie-neck beauty from Equipment ($358). Or — for those wanting to flaunt their figures — this sweater dress ($249) is pretty fetching. And, this is super splash-making ($395) — hello, fashion editor.
Charlotte Olympia’s kitty flats have been all the rage for a long while now. I always thought they were a tiny bit twee for my style, but I’ve changed my tune with the arrival of these sparkly treats ($565). They are JUST TOO GOOD. Don’t they just make you smile?! I’m imagining wearing them with jeans and a simple black or white blouse.
I’m obsessed with these gold hashtag ear crawlers (on sale for $135). Love their slight edginess.
Gap has been killing it in the winter sweater department. I’ve snagged this (OMG, the softest — it’s like wearing a fleece blanket) and this, among other pieces, and gotten tons of compliments on both! Now I need this loose-knit pink sweater ($69).
How fall-perfect is Julia of Gal Meets Glam in this outfit against this gorgeous background?! Girl has got it going on. Recreate with this J. Crew button-front skirt ($118) and this Maison Kitsune top ($225), or one of these plaid options: this or this (on sale for $35!). Totally different look, but would you believe that this peplum plaid shell is from Talbots?! Would look so epic for a holiday cocktail party with black skinnies/pixie pants and some maj jewels.
Speaking of plaid, how amazing is this textured coat ($448)???
Hi! Am desperately looking for the black velvet wrap dress that you linked in your post, but the link is dead. Would you happen to have a link that works?
Shoot @allison — it was from Banana Republic but appears to be sold out :/ I found a similar style in gold at Zara: http://www.zara.com/us/en/woman/dresses/crossover-velvet-dress-c269185p3969021.html
